A high-acuity pediatric intensive care environment is seeking experienced RNs with NICU skills for contract assignments in Monroe, NC. This role offers the opportunity to provide critical care in a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center with a strong teaching hospital background. Candidates should be prepared to work in a fast-paced setting managing complex pediatric conditions.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of pediatric ICU experience with high-acuity care
- Current RN license with BLS and PALS certifications
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records system
- Experience managing vasoactive drips, invasive lines (ART lines, CVP), ventilators, tracheostomies, feeding tubes, and critical care equipment such as Belmont Rapid Infuser and Alaris pumps
- Familiarity with procedures including Foley insertion, chest tube management, and sedation/analgesic drip administration
- Ability to float to Pediatric CVICU as needed

Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients with diagnoses including respiratory distress, trauma (penetrating and non-accidental), DKA, seizures, neurosurgical conditions, renal failure, orthopedic and surgical cases, transplants, complex medical and blood disorders
- Maintain patient ratios appropriate to acuity (ranging from 1:1 to 2:1)
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including intensivists, residents, APPs, respiratory therapists, and support staff
- Perform bedside procedures and support patient discharge planning
- Float to various pediatric units as needed, including CVICU, NICU, and general pediatrics
Schedule/Hours:
- 26-week contract with possible 48-hour/week guarantee - confirm during application
- No call responsibilities for travelers
- Scheduling cycles every 6 weeks, with manager approval required for time off
