Step into a pivotal surgical nursing role supporting operating room excellence. This contract position requires a dedicated RN with substantial peri-operative experience to assist surgeons and occasionally circulate as needed. Under the direction of the Nurse Manager for the Operating Room, you’ll play a vital part in delivering patient-centered, high-quality care and supporting the surgical team to achieve positive outcomes.

Schedule:

  • Four 10-hour shifts each week
  • On call two days a week (from end of shift until 7pm)
  • Weekend on call once every three weekends (24 hours/day on both Saturday and Sunday)

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing
  • Active RN licensure in Massachusetts
  • ACLS certification
  • Completion of an RN First Assisting course meeting AORN Core Curriculum standards
  • Five years of diversified peri-operative nursing experience, including proficiency in scrubbing and circulating roles
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as RN First Assist, supporting the surgeon in lead role throughout operative procedures
  • Circulate in the operating room as needed, ensuring compliance with organizational and departmental protocols
  • Maintain a safe, efficient, and patient-focused environment
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and perioperative staff
  • Accurately document perioperative nursing care and interventions
