Registered Nurse - Operating Room (OR RN) - Birmingham, AL

An exciting contract opportunity is available for a skilled registered nurse with experience in the Operating Room. This position is ideal for professionals looking to advance their surgical nursing expertise in a dynamic healthcare setting. You’ll be handling a variety of surgical specialties with a supportive interdisciplinary team.

Schedule/Hours:

• 36 hours per week
• 3x12 hour shifts
• 0600 – 1830
• On-call: 2 weekdays and 1 full weekend day per month

Preferred Experience/Qualifications:

• Current RN license in good standing
• Minimum of one year recent experience in the Operating Room (RN-OR)
• Familiarity and proficiency with ENT, Davinci XI, Gynecology, General, Neuro, or Vascular surgical procedures highly preferred
• Ability to respond calmly and effectively in high-pressure situations
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• BLS and ACLS certifications (preferred or as required by facility)
• Team-oriented with a focus on optimal patient outcomes

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care and maintain a sterile field during surgical procedures
• Collaborate with surgical staff, anesthesiologists, and other team members to ensure coordination and high-quality care
• Prepare equipment and supplies for surgeries, including specialized instruments for ENT, Davinci XI, Gyn, General, Neuro, and Vascular procedures
• Monitor patients’ vital signs and identify changes in condition during surgery
• Uphold stringent infection prevention and safety standards
• Document care delivered and patient responses according to established protocols
