Registered Nurse - Operating Room (OR RN) in Des Moines, IA

Embark on your next assignment as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room, supporting a fast-paced, high-acuity surgical environment. This contract position is ideal for professionals ready to make an impact across multiple campuses, working with a diverse range of patient cases in a level 1 trauma center with 16 state-of-the-art operating suites. Scrubs are provided, and average daily case volumes range from 35-50, emphasizing efficiency with turnovers under 20 minutes.

Schedule:

• 36–48 hours per week
• Overtime billable after 40/48 hours as applicable
• On-call, weekend, and holiday shifts required (must be available for 1-2 out of 3 winter holidays unless unit is closed)
• Orientation dates: 10/12, 10/19, 10/26, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16, 11/23, 11/30

Qualifications:

• Minimum 24 months recent Operating Room RN experience in hospital/medical center settings
• Circulating and OR experience required; scrub experience highly preferred
• Experience required in: General, da Vinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma cases
• Additional experience in Neuro, ortho trauma (not joints), gynecology, urology, transplants, ENT, plastics, and vascular highly preferred
• Trauma level II experience required; level I highly preferred
• Prior travel assignment completed within last 15 months—no first-time travelers
• EPIC EMR experience within last 3 years
• Active Iowa or compact/multistate RN license at time of submission
• AHA or ARC BLS certification
• Submission items: Resume with detailed OR experience, skills checklist matching Operating Room Nurse role, driver’s license, and references (professional/managerial preferred)

Role Responsibilities:

• Scrub and circulate in a broad spectrum of cases
• Float across multiple facilities as needed
• Ensure rigorous adherence to turnaround and safety standards
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a Level 1 trauma context
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation using EPIC
