Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current Registered Nurse license in Massachusetts
- Active BLS required; ACLS required within 60 days of hire if not already held
- O.R. nursing experience and CNOR certification strongly preferred
- Ability to excel in high-pressure, priority-shifting environments
- Stellar communication, multitasking, and a positive, proactive approach
Responsibilities:
- Foster a culture of courtesy, respect, and confidentiality for all patients and staff
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical techs to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Maintain sterile fields, direct proper handling and sterilization of instruments
- Perform and document thorough patient assessments, plan and implement individualized care
- Execute proper identification practices and verify consent and site prior to procedures
- Manage specimen handling, sponge, needle and instrument counts per policy
- Lead patient/family education, discharge planning, and supportive resource coordination
- Proactively monitor for safety risks, respond promptly to emergencies, and champion hand hygiene compliance
- Supervise and delegate tasks, mentor team members, and contribute to ongoing professional development initiatives
