Registered Nurse - Operating Room - Portland, Maine

Take the next step in your Operating Room nursing career in a dynamic hospital setting, working alongside a skilled surgical team handling a broad range of specialty procedures. This contract opportunity offers a choice between four 10-hour shifts or four 12-hour shifts, with guaranteed weekly hours and the chance to work in a Level 1 Trauma environment.

Schedule Options:

• 4x10 or 4x12 shifts
• Day shifts: 7:00am–5:00pm or 7:00am–7:30pm
• Some weekend and occasional call shifts required

What we’re looking for:

• Active RN license and at least 2 years of experience in the operating room
• Proven proficiency in ENT, Dental, Plastics, Pediatric, and Trauma Level 1 cases
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS required; PALS and AORN preferred but not mandatory
• Comfortable caring for patients from pediatric to geriatric age groups
• Skilled at working in a fast-paced environment with complex procedures, including laryngoscopy, sinus surgery, facial plastics, cochlear implants, oral surgery, head and neck cancer surgery, tonsillectomy, and tympanoplasty
• Experience with EPIC EMR strongly valued
• Flexible, patient-oriented, and a collaborative team player

Key responsibilities:

• Deliver safe and effective patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures
• Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists, and other care team members
• Maintain strict adherence to infection control and universal precautions
• Provide thoughtful support and clear communication to patients and families
• Efficiently manage clinical documentation and updates via EPIC
