Registered Nurse - Operating Room (OR RN) in Springfield, MA

Embark on a fulfilling contract assignment as a skilled Registered Nurse specializing in the Operating Room. This opportunity offers you the chance to make a direct impact on surgical patient outcomes while supporting a dedicated surgical team.

Schedule/Hours:

• Four 10-hour shifts per week
• On-call requirement: Two evenings per week (5p–7p)
• Rotating weekend call: One full weekend (Saturday and Sunday, 24 hours each day) every three weeks

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (required)
• Active RN license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or American Red Cross
• Completion of an RN First Assisting course aligning with AORN’s Core Curriculum
• Minimum five years’ broad peri-operative nursing experience, proficient in both scrubbing and circulating

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the surgeon as First Assist throughout operative procedures
• Collaborate with surgical team under the direction of the Nurse Manager, ensuring adherence to organizational and departmental policies
• Circulate within the Operating Room as needed to support patient care
• Maintain a safe, organized surgical environment and uphold high standards of patient safety
• Coordinate pre-operative and post-operative care as required, acting as a resource for staff and patients alike
