Registered Nurse - Operating Room | West Des Moines, Iowa

Advance your nursing career by contributing your expertise in a dynamic Operating Room setting supporting high-acuity surgical services. This contract role is ideal for experienced RNs ready to utilize both scrubbing and circulating skills in one of the region’s most advanced trauma centers. Your work will directly support a variety of complex procedures across general, cardiac, robotics, neurosurgery, ortho trauma, and more—supported by cutting-edge technologies including DaVinci robots and Stealth neuro-navigation.

Schedule/Hours

• 36-48 hours per week; OT eligible after 40 or 48 hours, respectively
• Expect weekend call from end of shift Friday to 6:30 am Monday (with on-call compensation)
• Participation required for 1-2 winter holidays unless unit is closed

Key Qualifications

• Minimum 24 months of recent operating room experience (hospital/medical center setting prioritized)
• Demonstrated experience circulating; scrubbing experience highly preferred
• Proficient with EPIC EMR system (within the last 3 years)
• Experience with general surgery, DaVinci robotics, pediatrics, and trauma cases required
• Additional exposure to neuro, ortho (primarily trauma), gynecology, urology, transplants, plastics, ENT, or vascular cases strongly preferred
• Recent Level II Trauma experience required; Level I Trauma highly preferred
• Previous successful travel assignment within past 15 months (not a first-time traveler)
• Active Iowa (IA) RN license or compact/multi-state license at submission
• BLS certification through AHA or ARC
• Driver’s license and discipline-specific skills checklist required
• Professional reference/evaluation from a nursing leader within past 24 months preferred

Responsibilities

• Scrub and circulate for diverse surgical cases, supporting turnovers in under 20 minutes
• Float to multiple surgical campuses as needed
• Uphold Level I trauma center standards, adapting to a fast-paced, unpredictable caseload

$2,993 - $3,155/Week Estimated weekly earnings represent hourly wages, based on 40 hours per week, and expense reimbursement for eligible candidates. The actual amount may vary based on hours worked, eligibility for reimbursements, and seasonal adjustments.
