An opportunity is available for a skilled Registered Nurse to support students across a TK-8 district in a school-based setting. This contract position offers a consistent weekday schedule and the chance to collaborate with dedicated educators and healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality student care.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to students with diverse medical needs throughout the district
- Deliver specialized support to students with diabetes, including insulin management and carb counting, particularly for younger children
- Assist with students requiring ventilator or tracheostomy care, utilizing relevant certifications and experience
- Participate in the creation and implementation of individualized healthcare plans in coordination with school nurses and staff
- Address urgent medical situations, administer medication, and offer first aid as needed
- Foster effective communication with students, families, educators, and health personnel to support each student's well-being
- Maintain accurate records in compliance with school and regulatory guidelines
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Valid and active Registered Nurse license
- Strong clinical background in diabetes management for young children, with expertise in carbohydrate counting and insulin administration
- Ventilator and tracheostomy care experience or certification highly preferred
- Previous school nursing experience is highly desirable
- Bilingual abilities highly preferred, to meet the needs of a diverse student population
- Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills
