A rewarding nursing opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse specializing in school-based care. This contract position focuses on providing comprehensive medical support to students from Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through 8th grade within a general district-wide setting. The role emphasizes assisting students with diabetes and other medical needs while collaborating closely with school nurses to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver nursing care to students across multiple school sites, primarily supporting those with diabetes and complex medical conditions
- Perform carbohydrate counting and diabetes management tailored for young children
- Provide skilled care for students with ventilators and tracheostomies (Vent and Trach experience or certification highly preferred)
- Work collaboratively with school nurses and staff to support student health and safety
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and healthcare providers
Desired Experience:
- Active RN licensure with strong expertise in pediatric diabetic care, including carb counting
- Previous experience working within school nursing or pediatric nursing environments is highly preferred
- Bilingual skills are an asset to better serve a diverse student population
- Certification or experience in ventilator and trach care greatly valued
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
