An opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse to provide critical care on a high-acuity Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit. This contract position offers 12-hour night shifts caring for complex patients with a variety of needs including respiratory, renal, surgical, and trauma cases. Ventilator experience is essential, as this unit manages patients with trachs and vents, representing some of the highest acuity cases outside of ICU.

Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop prioritized plans of care for critically ill patients
- Administer and monitor drip medications such as Cardizem and Amiodarone (no pressors)
- Manage ventilators, tracheostomies, BiPAP, CPAP, High Flow, and Airvo devices
- Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams, act as patient safety advocate, and collaborate with family members and caregivers
- Respond promptly to changing patient conditions with sound clinical judgment
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and families handling complex health challenges
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Current RN license in state or covered by compact licensure
- Minimum of 1 year RN experience, including strong higher-acuity Stepdown or ICU experience
- Ventilator management and insulin drip administration required
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Certification preferred; CCRN or PCCN is a plus
- EPIC EHR experience preferred
Work Conditions:
- Ratios are typically 1:4-5, with some CNA support depending on shift
- Requires physical stamina for lifting, bending, and standing throughout shift
- Ability to function effectively in high-stress and fast-paced environments
