Travel Stepdown Unit Registered Nurse (RN) in Bessemer City, NC

Schedule/Hours:

• Weekend rotation: Every other
• No call
• Holiday expectations: 75% coverage required (travelers)
• Up to 6 days approved scheduled time off (not including holidays), with flexibility to extend for contract fulfillment
• 6-week scheduling cycle

Qualifications & Experience:

• Active RN license, BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of recent PCU RN experience
• Experience with trach care, cardiac gtt, rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, central line management, blood product administration, and wound care
• Comfortable floating within regional facilities as needed
• Open to first-time travelers
• Familiarity with EMR (EPIC), IV Pump (Alaris), Med dispensing (Omnicell), and Phillips monitors preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a 1:4 RN-patient ratio (may flex to 1:5 based on acuity)
• Deliver care to diverse patient populations (e.g., CHF, dysrhythmia, stroke, respiratory illnesses, abdominal/renal conditions, diabetes, ETOH withdrawal)
• Collaborate with CNAs, phlebotomy, RT, hospitalists, and a supportive charge nurse
• Ensure continuity of care during float assignments, with on-the-clock compensation for transit
• Actively participate in orientation and maintain adherence to departmental policies
