Provide specialized nursing care in a cardiac stepdown unit focused on progressive care patients including those with heart, lung, vascular conditions, and post-OR/ICU needs. This contract position offers a dynamic environment with patients requiring close monitoring and skilled interventions. The role demands expertise in managing complex care needs, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver nursing care based on thorough assessment, nursing diagnosis, and care plan development.
- Monitor and document patient conditions, symptoms, and responses to treatments.
- Administer medications, perform wound care, and maintain IV therapy including central lines.
- Educate patients and families on disease management, prevention, and self-care.
- Collaborate closely with healthcare providers to coordinate effective patient care.
- Adhere strictly to infection control, medication administration, and safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and Joint Commission guidelines.
- Maintain clear, confidential documentation in the electronic medical record (EPIC system required).
- Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and families.
- Participate in safety initiatives such as safety huddles and bedside shift reports.
- Delegate appropriately to Unlicensed Assistive Personnel and ancillary staff.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current RN license with at least 1 year of experience in a stepdown or progressive care setting.
- Advanced certifications in ACLS and BLS required.
- Proven proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records.
- Prior experience with cardiac, pulmonary, and vascular patient populations preferred.
- Strong communication skills and dedication to patient outcomes.

Additional Details:
- Contract duration ranges from 13 to 26 weeks.
- Night shift schedule with 36 guaranteed hours per week.
