Step confidently into an advanced clinical nursing environment providing specialized care to adults in a newly established progressive care unit. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced RNs to contribute to a team that is building a dynamic PCU from the ground up, with a starting capacity of 12 beds and plans to expand.

Schedule/Hours:

  • Shifts: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM or 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
  • Weekend commitment: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (could vary based on departmental needs)
  • Holiday coverage: Expected to work 75% of holidays during the contract
  • Self-scheduling with manager approval
  • No on-call required

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Active RN license; BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PCU experience
  • Will consider first-time travelers only if 5+ years of PCU experience
  • Solid clinical skills in IV starts, wound management, dressing changes, central lines, NG tube insertion, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and various drips, including Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro, heparin, and insulin (Endotool)
  • EPIC EMR proficiency is a must
  • Comfortable conducting blood draws—no phlebotomy services available
  • Willingness to learn vent management and Precedex drips if not previously experienced

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality care to adult patients with complex medical diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, sepsis, GI bleeds, DKA, and more
  • Monitor and care for up to 4 patients per shift
  • Float between PCU, MedSurg, and other facilities in the region as required (with paid travel time if mid-shift)
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary support team, including CNAs, charge nurse, hospitalist, and anesthesia
