Provide expert nursing care in a progressive care unit (PCU) setting, managing patients with complex cardiovascular and respiratory conditions. This travel opportunity is ideal for registered nurses with a minimum of two years’ PCU experience seeking to enhance their clinical skills in a Level 3 Trauma and Stroke Center of Excellence. The unit cares for patients with diagnoses such as Acute Respiratory Failure, COPD, CHF, Sepsis, NSTEMI, and more, delivering high-quality care through effective communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer and manage medication drips including Heparin, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Labetalol, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Nesiritide, Cardene, Nitroglycerine, and Phenobarbital.
  • Perform respiratory support including Bipap, Optiflow, home ventilator, trach, and chest tube care.
  • Provide ostomy care, wound vac management, and post-procedure care such as post pacemaker and TR band for heart catheterizations.
  • Execute PIV starts, blood draws, and provide comprehensive patient assessments using Philips monitoring technology and EMR (Epic).
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including CNAs, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, intensivists, and charge nurses to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Float within the regional network as needed within scope of practice.

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

  • Active RN license.
  • Minimum 2 years PCU (Stepdown) nursing experience.
  • Certification in BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS certification preferred.
  • Skilled in advanced cardiac and respiratory nursing procedures.
  • Competent with equipment such as Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication systems, Lifepak defibrillators, and telemonitoring.
