This opportunity enhances your nursing career through work in a diverse, 32-bed progressive care unit (PCU), serving a broad patient population with conditions ranging from CHF and dysrhythmias to respiratory illnesses and acute kidney injury. Experience a robust orientation, work alongside dedicated interdisciplinary teams, and collaborate with supportive leadership. Exposure to a range of workplace practices and leading technology, including EPIC EMR and Philips patient monitoring systems, allows you to build sought-after skills that will strengthen your CV.

Schedule/Hours:

  • Weekend rotation: Every other weekend
  • Holiday requirement: 75% of major holidays
  • Call: Possibility of low census call; may be called back by 3am (Nights) or 3pm (Days)
  • Schedule cycle: Every 6 weeks
  • Up to 6 days of requested time off can be approved (excluding holidays), with flexibility to extend as needed

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license
  • Minimum 18 months recent PCU experience
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certification required
  • Cardiac gtt, trach care, rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, central line management, wound care
  • Experience with blood products administration
  • Willingness to float to facilities within regional scope, sometimes mid-shift (travel time compensated)
  • First-time travelers welcomed

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality care to stepdown patients (RN ratio generally 1:4, up to 1:5 based on acuity)
  • Collaborate closely with CNAs, charge nurses, hospitalists, intensivists, RTs, phlebotomists, and support teams
  • Administer medications, monitor telemetry, and perform bedside assessments
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EPIC EMR
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and unit initiatives
