Seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to provide expert care in a Respiratory Step Down Unit. This contract opportunity is focused on respiratory, vent-dependent patients in a dynamic medical environment, not a traditional Med/Surg setting. The role includes floating to similar chronic care units such as RCU, SDU, and TRU. Ideal candidates demonstrate strong adaptability and clinical proficiency with respiratory or vented populations.

Schedule/Hours:

  • 12-hour shifts: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Night shifts
  • Every other weekend required

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid RN license with 1–2 years of acute care experience
  • Experience with respiratory/vented patients strongly preferred
  • Prior travel RN experience highly desirable
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
  • Ability to float between multiple chronic care units per shift
  • Solid communication, assessment, and prioritization skills
  • Professional demeanor with willingness to adapt to changing unit needs

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to respiratory-focused, vent-dependent patient populations
  • Perform IV starts, administer drips and blood products, conduct EKGs, and manage medication titrations
  • Undertake glucose monitoring, wound vac changes, trach care, suctioning, and urinary catheterization
  • Provide foley and port access care, central line dressing changes, and wound measurement
  • Collaborate with Respiratory Therapists who manage ventilators
  • Float between units (RCU, RCU2, SDU, TRU) as required, adapting to different patient needs and environments
  • Maintain accurate documentation and uphold safety protocols throughout each shift

$1,895 - $2,074/Week Estimated weekly earnings represent hourly wages, based on 36 hours per week, and expense reimbursement for eligible candidates. The actual amount may vary based on hours worked, eligibility for reimbursements, and seasonal adjustments.
