Travel PCU/Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) | Kings Mountain, North Carolina

As a travel RN specializing in stepdown care, you’ll strengthen your skills caring for a diverse patient population, from heart failure and chest pain cases to acute kidney injuries and respiratory illness. Exposure to a variety of clinical environments, including the ability to float to multiple facilities within the region, provides unparalleled professional development. You’ll collaborate with highly trained healthcare teams and sharpen your abilities with advanced technologies such as EPIC EMR and Alaris IV pumps.

Schedule/Hours:

• Weekend rotation: every other weekend
• Possibility of low census call (nights: called back up to 3am; days: up to 3pm)
• Six-week schedule cycles
• Two days of departmental orientation
• Holiday coverage expectations: 75% of holidays

Qualifications:

• Valid RN license and 18+ months of recent PCU nursing experience
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Proficiency in interpreting cardiac rhythms, wound care, managing central lines, cardiac drips, and trach care
• First-time travelers encouraged to apply

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver safe, compassionate care in a 32-bed progressive care unit
• Manage a typical RN-patient ratio of 1:4 (up to 1:5 as needed)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including 24/7 hospitalist and intensivist support
• Maintain comprehensive patient documentation using EPIC
• Float within the designated hospital region as regional needs require, with paid travel time if floated mid-shift
