Travel Stepdown Registered Nurse | Kingwood, West Virginia

An opportunity is available for an experienced RN with a background in Stepdown/Immediate Care Unit nursing to take on a travel assignment in Kingwood, WV. This role involves caring for patients in a high-acuity environment typically staffed at a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, with flexibility to 1:5 in emergency situations. The position requires delivering skilled nursing care on the night shift with a focus on telemetry and progressive care patients.

Schedule/Hours

• 3x12-hour shifts, nights (7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.)
• Weekdays with some weekend shifts required
• Holiday time-off requests are limited to no more than 2 of the 4 major holidays

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stepdown and immediate care unit patients with varying acuity levels
• Perform telemetry monitoring and interpret strips accurately
• Administer IV starts and manage patient care effectively under a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio (flexible to 1:5 in emergencies)
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes

Qualifications / Desired Experience

• Active RN license
• 1.5 to 2+ years of nursing experience
• Minimum of 1 year experience in medical-surgical/telemetry units and 2 years in stepdown care
• Proficient in reading telemetry strips
• BCLS and ACLS certification required
• Experience with IV starts and telemetry monitoring essential
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR system is preferred

• Weekend block schedules (Fri-Sun or Sat-Mon) may be considered

• Contract length: 13 weeks with possible extension
