This specialized opportunity places you in a progressive care unit (PCU) with an emphasis on oncology and trauma care—offering a front-row seat to advanced clinical practices and interdisciplinary teamwork. You’ll encounter a diverse patient population and collaborate with an accomplished support staff, giving you the chance to sharpen your clinical expertise and gain insights into leadership and workflow strategies valued by top medical centers. With each shift, you’ll be expanding your professional repertoire and adding dimension to your resume.
Schedule/Hours:
- 13-week contract, 36 hours per week
- 12-hour shifts: multiple start times available (including days, evenings, nights)
- Every other weekend required, with self-scheduling options
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Active RN license and driver’s license (to confirm travel radius)
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- ONS/ONCC chemotherapy certification (required)
- 1+ year of recent PCU or oncology nursing experience
- Successful completion of onboarding skills exam (90% required; open book)
- Willingness to float between PCU and MedSurg units
- Strong sense of teamwork and cultural sensitivity
- Compliance with strict patient care standards (e.g., no artificial nails)
Core Responsibilities:
- Manage care for adult patients with a focus on oncology and trauma
- Titrate insulin and cardizem drips as required
- Utilize ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring, and electronic medical records (Epic)
- Collaborate with ancillary support (PT/OT, case managers, social work, educators, etc.)
- Uphold patient experience through hourly rounding and holistic, respectful care
