As a Registered Nurse on the Stepdown/PCU Unit, you’ll navigate varied clinical situations, from cardiac procedures to respiratory support and multisystem patient care, gaining exposure to a diverse mix of clinical practices and leadership perspectives. Schedule:

  • 12-week assignment
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1:4-5 days/1:5 nights

Desired Qualifications:

  • Current RN license (compact or state of assignment)
  • Minimum 2 years recent SDU/IMCU experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Experience with vents at IMC level required; unit education provided
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke certifications required
  • Comfortable caring for a wide range of acuities and patient needs
  • Must pass Dysrhythmia Exam (study guide available)
  • Flexible for various patient populations (cardiac, neuro, general med/surg, respiratory)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Holistic assessment, treatment planning, and evaluation for adults/geriatrics
  • Administer drips (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin) and manage advanced respiratory therapies
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams; coordinate family and patient communications
  • Prioritize patient advocacy and quality improvement efforts
  • Respond confidently to evolving patient conditions and emergencies
