This Progressive Care/Stepdown nursing opportunity is an excellent path for Registered Nurses looking to broaden their expertise in challenging adult patient care environments, including oncology and trauma cases. Collaborate with inclusive, supportive teams, experience firsthand a range of healthcare practices, and work with advanced equipment and technology—all while growing your clinical knowledge and building your network.
Schedule/Hours:
- 13-week contract, 36 hours per week
- Shifts: 12-hour, with options including 7a-7p, 7p-7a, and partial shifts (7a-3p, 3p-7p, 7p-11p, 11p-7a)
- Every other weekend required
- Self-scheduling available for flexibility
Qualifications:
- Active RN license
- Minimum 1 year recent stepdown/PCU or oncology experience (first-time travelers welcome)
- BLS, ACLS required; NIHSS required
- Chemo certification (ONS/ONCC) preferred, not required
- Must pass an open-book clinical exam (90% minimum)
- Willingness to adhere to patient care and grooming policies (e.g., no artificial nails)
- Strong teamwork, empathy, and adaptability in multicultural settings
- Driver's license required for verification
Responsibilities:
- Care for adult patients in mixed PCU/Oncology/MedSurg settings (27 beds)
- RN-patient ratios: 1:4 PCU, 1:5 MedSurg (day), 1:5-6 (night)
- Float to similar units as needed
- Perform and titrate drips (insulin, cardizem), chemotherapy administration (if certified)
- Utilize EPIC EMR and Alaris pumps
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team (RN assistants, case managers, PT/OT, social work)
