Stepdown Unit Registered Nurse (RN) in Pelham, AL

This contract opportunity calls for an experienced nurse experienced in caring for patients who require an intermediate level of care—those transitioning from critical or intensive care to a standard medical-surgical setting. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to monitor and respond to patients’ evolving clinical needs.

Desired Qualifications:

• Current and valid RN license
• Prior experience in a Stepdown unit or similar setting
• Strong clinical assessment and monitoring skills
• Proficiency with intravenous therapy, hemodynamic monitoring, and interpreting EKGs
• Ability to provide compassionate communication to patients and their families
• Commitment to patient safety and adherence to best practice protocols

Expected Responsibilities:

• Monitor and assess patients with changing or complex clinical conditions
• Administer medications and manage IV infusions as ordered
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes thoroughly and accurately
• Rapidly identify and respond to changes in patient status
• Educate patients and families on care plans, discharge instructions, and recovery expectations
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment in accordance with hospital policies

Schedule/Hours:

• Contract position with flexible shifts and scheduling options
• Potential for both day and night shift assignments, as required by the department
