Stepdown Registered Nurses play a vital role in bridging the gap between critical care and general medical-surgical nursing. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to deliver exemplary care for patients transitioning from intensive care.
Key Qualifications:
- Active RN license with eligibility to practice nursing
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience working as an RN in a Stepdown or Progressive Care setting
- Strong clinical skills, including proficient assessment, IV therapy, telemetry monitoring, and interpretation
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
- Ability to respond swiftly and accurately to emergency situations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and team members
- Flexibility to work contract shifts as scheduled based on facility needs
Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to Stepdown unit patients, adhering to evidence-based protocols and facility guidelines
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and vital signs, identifying and escalating changes as required
- Administer medications, manage complex IV drips, and provide wound care as prescribed
- Collaborate with physicians and allied health professionals to develop and update patient care plans
- Educate patients and families about post-acute care, discharge instructions, and health management strategies
- Accurately document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record
