Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) - Trussville, AL

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with expertise in Stepdown care for a contract assignment on Unit 4 North. This role offers the opportunity to work with a dedicated healthcare team and care for patients requiring close monitoring during recovery from acute conditions. A strong background in Stepdown nursing, commitment to high-quality care, and adaptability to a fast-paced hospital environment are essential for success in this position.

Schedule:

• Nights, 36 hours per week
• 3x12 hour shifts
• 13 to 16-week assignment
• Every other weekend required
• Three holidays required (combination of major/minor: 11/27, 11/28, 12/24, 12/25, 12/31, 1/1)

Qualifications:

• Active and unrestricted Alabama RN or multistate compact license (no pending applications)
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Stepdown RN experience
• Prior travel RN experience required
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical record system
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Flexibility regarding scheduling: blocked schedules cannot be accommodated
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care for Stepdown patients, monitoring for changes and responding promptly to evolving conditions
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Administer medications, manage IVs, and perform complex assessments and interventions as required
• Ensure accurate documentation using Cerner EMR
• Provide compassionate support and education to patients and their families
