Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) in Virginia Beach, VA

Qualifications:

• Valid and current RN license
• Minimum of 1 year recent experience in a Stepdown or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting
• Demonstrated proficiency with cardiac monitoring, titration of drips, and managing patients requiring closer observation than general med-surg
• Strong assessment and critical-thinking skills
• BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Familiarity with electronic medical records systems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and care for patients transitioning from intensive care to general nursing units, ensuring seamless continuity of care
• Perform frequent patient assessments, recognizing subtle changes in condition and responding appropriately
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to develop and update individualized care plans
• Administer medications, manage IV drips, and provide bedside treatments
• Educate patients and families regarding post-ICU recovery, ongoing treatment, and discharge processes
• Accurately document patient data and interventions in the electronic health record
