An exciting opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse specializing in stepdown care, supporting patients with cardiac, surgical, and respiratory conditions. This travel nursing position offers a 13-week contract working 12-hour night shifts on a dedicated PCU/Stepdown unit focused on comprehensive patient care and safety advocacy.

Position Highlights:

  • Provide specialized nursing care on a 26-bed stepdown unit with patient ratios typically ranging from 1:4-5 (days) to 1:5-6 (nights).
  • Manage patients requiring Tikosyn loading and cardiac medication titration, including continuous Amiodarone drips.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and perform nursing interventions, including IV push medications and post-operative wound management.
  • Serve as a patient advocate and coordinate comprehensive care involving family and caregivers.
  • Function as charge nurse on day shifts without direct patient assignment and manage full assignments during night shifts.
  • Participate actively in quality improvement initiatives and uphold patient safety standards.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Current RN license with multi-state compact eligibility.
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience; acute care experience preferred.
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Certification; Dysrhythmia Exam must be completed (study guide provided).
  • Critical care or progressive care certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with EPIC EHR preferred.
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to adapt quickly to changing patient conditions.

Scheduling:

  • 12-hour night shifts.
  • 13-week travel assignment.
