Apply NowA rewarding contract opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse experienced in Stepdown care within a Respiratory Step Down Unit. This role focuses on patients with complex respiratory needs, including those who are vent-dependent, in a medical environment that is distinct from traditional Med/Surg settings.
Schedule:
- 12-hour night shifts: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Every other weekend required
Key Qualifications:
- Current RN license with 1-2 years of relevant experience; experience with respiratory or vented patients highly preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience is preferred
- BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
- Strong clinical skills, particularly with trach care, wound care, IV starts, medication titration, and blood administration
- Comfortable floating to other chronic care units (RCU, RCU2, SDU, TRU) as needed during shifts
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized care to a respiratory-focused, vent-dependent patient population (ventilator management overseen by Respiratory Therapists)
- Manage and monitor IV starts, drips, blood administration, EKGs, glucose checks, wound vacs, simple and complex dressing changes, trach care, suctioning, catheter and foley care, port access, central line dressing changes, and wound measurements
- Flexibly float to like chronic care units, potentially splitting shifts between units (e.g., 4 hours in one, 8 in another) based on patient acuity and staffing needs
- Maintain meticulous documentation and communication, ensuring all profiles clearly reflect experience with respiratory or vented patients

$1,895 - $2,074/Week Estimated weekly earnings represent hourly wages, based on 36 hours per week, and expense reimbursement for eligible candidates. The actual amount may vary based on hours worked, eligibility for reimbursements, and seasonal adjustments.
