This position offers a 13-week travel assignment specializing in stepdown nursing care focused on cardiac, surgical, and respiratory conditions. Working 12-hour day shifts, the role provides a dynamic environment dedicated to delivering high-quality patient care in a progressive care unit setting. Candidates must hold current RN licensure, along with BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Certification, and possess dysrhythmia exam certification (study guide provided).
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
- Administer medications safely following protocols, including titrating Cardizem and managing Amio drips.
- Coordinate patient care and serve as the primary contact for interdisciplinary teams and families.
- Manage patients with multi-system organ failure and postoperative care, including wound vacs and post-op drains.
- Advocate for patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.
- Apply clinical judgment to respond effectively to rapidly changing patient conditions.
- Participate in quality improvement and uphold professional nursing standards based on the nursing practice model.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current RN license in the state or compact licensure required.
- Minimum one year of RN experience; at least six months in an acute care hospital preferred.
- Certification in Dysrhythmia Exam (required), BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Certification.
- Familiarity with EPIC Electronic Health Records and critical care preferred.
- Ability to manage patients with cardiac conditions, including transvenous pacing and conscious sedation administration.
- Strong communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and professional accountability.
Unit Setting:
- 26-bed progressive care unit with cardiac, surgical, and respiratory patient population.
- Ratios typically 1:4-5 on day shifts, and 1:5-6 on nights with some team nursing collaboration.
- No ventilators, A-lines, or tracheostomies managed on this unit.
- Exposure to moderately high-stress clinical environment requiring adaptability and resilience.
