As part of a 32-bed general surgical unit, you’ll deliver exceptional postoperative care to a diverse patient population. This assignment exposes you to a collaborative environment where you’ll work alongside local family practitioners, hospitalists, and surgeons, gaining firsthand experience in different care philosophies and leadership approaches. Schedule / Hours

  • Accepts both 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Holidays as assigned
  • Every other weekend required
  • Must be willing to float to other hospital units as needed

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in nursing required
  • Active Registered Nurse license for Alabama (or compact state; no temporary licenses)
  • AHA BLS or Red Cross BLS certification
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (18 months considered with strong references)
  • At least 1 year of recent telemetry/med-surg experience
  • Ability to adapt to different units and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide postoperative care for surgical patients, including pain management, mobility support, and bedside procedures
  • Manage a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Create a healing and supportive environment tailored to each patient’s needs
  • Communicate effectively with practitioners, surgeons, and allied health professionals
  • Float to other units or hospital facilities if required
