This contract role focuses on ensuring all surgical instruments and medical equipment are decontaminated, assembled, and sterilized to meet regulatory and facility guidelines.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Current Sterile Processing Technician certification (CRCST or equivalent)
- Prior experience as a Sterile Processing Technician within a healthcare or hospital setting
- Strong knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection prevention protocols
- Proficient in operating autoclaves, washers, ultrasonic cleaners, and other sterilization equipment
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and accurately document processes
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Capacity to stand for extended periods and handle physical aspects of the role safely
Key Responsibilities:
- Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, wrap, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical devices
- Operate and monitor sterilization and disinfection equipment according to manufacturer instructions and safety standards
- Perform quality checks on instrument trays and equipment to ensure functionality and cleanliness
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, loads, biological and chemical monitoring results
- Assist with inventory management, including restocking and ordering supplies
- Collaborate with nursing staff, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care
- Adhere strictly to infection control procedures and contribute to overall patient safety
