Sterile Processing Technicians play a crucial role in supporting patient safety by ensuring medical instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and ready for procedures. We are seeking an experienced professional with a background in sterile processing and current certification to work on a 13-week contract with a reputable healthcare provider.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST or equivalent)
- Previous experience in a sterile processing department, preferably in an acute care or hospital setting
- Familiarity with infection control protocols, equipment sterilization, and surgical instrumentation
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Responsibilities:
- Collect, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment
- Operate autoclaves and other sterilization equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and regulatory standards
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, supply inventory, and instrument trays
- Collaborate with surgical and nursing staff to ensure timely processing and delivery of sterilized equipment
- Adhere to facility safety and infection prevention guidelines at all times
- Troubleshoot and report equipment malfunctions or inventory shortages
- Support the orientation of new staff and contribute to a safe, organized work environment
