Clinical Pharmacist in Alexandria, LA

A clinical pharmacist opportunity is available at a well-established 200+ bed community hospital in Alexandria, LA. This contract assignment offers a dynamic environment where your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes. You will work alongside a dedicated healthcare team, providing comprehensive medication management in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Location: Alexandria, LA
Job Type: Contract (13 weeks)
Start Date: ASAP
Schedule:

• Four 10-hour shifts per week
• Rotating schedule with varying shifts (6 AM-4:30 PM, 7 AM-5:30 PM, or 12:30 PM-11 PM)
• Every other weekend off

Key Responsibilities:

• Verify medication orders with precision and accuracy
• Supervise and support pharmacy technicians to ensure smooth operations
• Consult with physicians and nursing staff regarding drug therapies and patient-specific medication needs
• Perform pharmacokinetic assessments to optimize dosing and therapy outcomes
• Utilize hospital IT systems, including EPIC and Pyxis, to manage medication distribution and documentation

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid pharmacist license and credentials for the state of Louisiana
• Experience in hospital pharmacy or clinical pharmacist roles, preferably in acute care settings
• Strong knowledge of pharmacokinetics and medication therapy management
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for interdisciplinary teamwork
