A Clinical Pharmacist position is available in Alturas, CA, focused on inpatient pharmacy services in a hospital setting. This 13-week contract role begins on June 1, offering varied shifts including day schedules with either 5 eight-hour shifts or 4 ten-hour shifts, and requires some weekend coverage. The position involves utilizing Cerner EMR to manage the pharmaceutical care delivery efficiently and safely.

Key responsibilities include overseeing the procurement, distribution, storage, and administration of medications within the facility under the guidance of the Pharmaceutical Services Director. The pharmacist will ensure compliance with all State and Federal regulations, maintain pharmacy licensure and policy manuals, and provide critical drug information to healthcare professionals. The role also involves maintaining all pharmaceuticals and emergency kits throughout the hospital and skilled nursing facility, managing inventory systems such as Omnicell, and resolving any drug discrepancies promptly. Serving as the Pharmacist in Charge, this position requires leadership in implementing pharmaceutical policies and managing accountability.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must have inpatient pharmacy experience within the last 3 years
  • Proficient with Cerner EMR system
  • Strong knowledge of drug formulary programs and drug distribution systems
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and professional communication skills
  • Familiarity with California pharmacy laws related to controlled substances and hazardous waste disposal
  • Ability to manage pharmacy inventory and maintain accurate records for procurement and dispensing
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with healthcare staff and provide quality patient care

Schedule:

  • Varied day shifts: either 5 shifts at 8 hours or 4 shifts at 10 hours
  • Some weekend coverage required
