An opportunity is available for a Clinical Pharmacist skilled in inpatient pharmacy practice to provide pharmaceutical services in a hospital setting. This contract role begins June 1st and lasts 13 weeks, based in Alturas, CA. The position offers varied shifts including days with either five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts weekly, incorporating some weekends. Experience with Cerner EMR is required.
Core responsibilities include oversight of inpatient pharmaceutical services, ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations. You will manage procurement, distribution, storage, and administration of medications while maintaining pharmacy licensure and policies. Serving as the Pharmacist in Charge, your duties encompass drug information provision, quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and inventory management including specialty kits and crash carts. You will review medication orders for accuracy and appropriateness, verify patients’ home medications, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. Additional responsibilities include record keeping, compliance monitoring, assisting with pharmacy licensure issues, and providing weekend and on-call pharmacist coverage for emergency dispensing.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Recent inpatient pharmacy experience within the last 3 years is required
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations and compliance
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Professional behavior and excellent interpersonal skills
- Experience with Cerner electronic medical records system
- Proven ability to manage pharmacy operations and drug formularies
