A clinical pharmacist position is available to provide inpatient pharmaceutical services at a hospital setting in Alturas, CA, starting June 1 for a 13-week contract. The role involves varied shifts including days with either 5 eight-hour shifts or 4 ten-hour shifts per week, inclusive of some weekends. Candidates must possess recent inpatient pharmacy experience (within the last 3 years) and be comfortable working with Cerner EMR systems.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee procurement, distribution, storage, and administration of medications in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Serve as the pharmacist in charge, ensuring pharmacy services adhere to licensing, accreditation, and policy standards.
- Review all inpatient medication orders for safety, appropriateness, and accuracy.
- Verify patient home medications prior to facility use and maintain all pharmaceuticals throughout the hospital, including specialty kits and crash carts.
- Monitor controlled substances, ensure proper disposal of hazardous drug waste, and maintain thorough records of all pharmaceutical transactions.
- Provide drug information and support to healthcare professionals and assist in pharmacy licensure and compliance tasks.
- Participate in emergency medication dispensing, including weekend retail pharmacy coverage and on-call pharmacist duties.
- Collaborate on cost-saving initiatives through formulary management and proper purchasing procedures.
- Complete all administrative duties timely, including record keeping, compliance, and license maintenance.
Desired Experience:
- Recent inpatient pharmacy experience (within 3 years).
- Familiarity with Cerner EMR.
