An infusion pharmacist is needed to provide part-time (2-3 days per week) clinical support in a dynamic healthcare setting. This role offers an opportunity to work Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with an immediate start and ongoing engagement. The position is located in Atwater, CA.
This role is ideal for candidates with strong IV, infusion, and clinical pharmacy experience, especially those with prior home infusion pharmacy background. Recent graduates within the last 2-3 years with IV/TPN experience during APPEs or internships are encouraged to apply, as training will be provided by the director for those eager to expand their skillset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate prescription orders for appropriateness regarding dosage, drug choice, patient diagnosis, potential interactions, and administration route.
- Verify and maintain comprehensive patient databases, including clinical lab results and concurrent medications.
- Maintain compliance documentation required by regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Collaborate with physicians and nurses regarding laboratory tests and medication safety.
- Support clinical and technical needs of healthcare teams.
- Assist in developing and implementing pharmacy policies and procedures.
- Oversee training and supervision of pharmacy technicians, interns, and other personnel.
- Supervise sterile compounding and quality assurance programs.
- Document all professional communications thoroughly in patient records.
- Ensure the safety of patients and staff by adhering to best pharmacy practices.
- Educate patients and caregivers on drug therapy instructions.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- California pharmacist license in good standing.
- Strong background in IV, infusion, and clinical pharmacy.
- Experience with home infusion pharmacy strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Detail-oriented with commitment to accurate documentation and maintaining standards.
- Familiarity with CareTend pharmacy system is a plus.
