This position offers a per diem opportunity in a home infusion pharmacy specializing in IV and infusion services for patients with acute and chronic medical needs. The role focuses on delivering safe, effective medication therapy in a cleanroom environment, supporting patients outside of a traditional hospital setting.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and process physician orders accurately and efficiently
- Perform sterile compounding and support cleanroom operations in compliance with USP <797> standards
- Ensure safe dispensing of medications and infusion-related supplies
- Maintain accurate patient and pharmacy records in accordance with federal and state regulations
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize therapy outcomes
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff during shifts
- Manage assigned patient caseloads and provide pharmacist coverage as needed
- Receive comprehensive training to become confident with pharmacy systems and workflow
Qualifications:
- Active Illinois Pharmacist License in good standing
- Minimum of 1 year pharmacy experience required; 2+ years clinical pharmacy experience preferred
- Experience with infusion therapy and/or sterile compounding highly desirable
- Solid knowledge of USP <797> sterile compounding standards
- Strong communication, multitasking, time management, and critical thinking skills
