Step into a rewarding role as a clinical pharmacist in a scenic mountain community. This per diem opportunity supports a dedicated pharmacist taking a two-week vacation, offering you a chance to work independently in a close-knit hospital setting. Located about 75 miles outside of Los Angeles, this hospital provides primary healthcare to its community with an 18-bed Med-Surgical unit and a 10-bed Emergency Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify and review medication orders ensuring accuracy, appropriateness, and patient safety.
- Compound sterile medications including IV admixtures and unit dose preparations (no chemotherapy or hazardous drugs).
- Participate in emergency response codes when needed.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies and state/federal laws, especially in sterile compounding.
- Monitor medication therapies and provide clinical guidance to medical staff.
- Manage Pyxis machine restocking at two local family health centers.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active and clear California Pharmacist License.
- Minimum of 2 years’ inpatient pharmacy experience.
- Preferred experience working as a sole pharmacist in a clinical setting.
- Familiarity with CPSI/Evident and Pyxis software preferred; training available if needed.
- Ability and willingness to cover on-call hours including weekends and after hours.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- On-call coverage for weekends and after hours, though calls are rare.
Additional Support:
- A pharmacy technician, available full-time during this contract, will assist with inventory and data entry.
Travel:
- Housing and mileage expenses are pass-through costs billed directly to the client.
