A six to eight-week contract opportunity is available for a clinical pharmacist to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This role requires a dedicated professional to accept and dispense prescription medications, monitor patient compliance, and ensure that all medications are suitable and legally managed.
Responsibilities include maintaining confidential patient records, advising patients on medication usage and potential side effects, and providing consultation on both prescription and non-prescription drugs. The pharmacist will also offer patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management, along with education on medical devices like glucose meters and blood pressure monitors.
Additional duties involve compounding medications for internal or external use, preparing sterile solutions, and supervising pharmacy staff, including technicians and clerks. Managing pharmaceutical inventory and collaborating effectively with physicians, nurses, pharmacy interns, and other healthcare practitioners to identify and resolve drug-related issues are essential aspects of the role.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Massachusetts pharmacist license (in-hand)
- Willingness to train retail pharmacists entering clinical roles
- Ability to work flexible shifts primarily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional coverage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
