Oncology Clinical Pharmacist - Carpinteria, California

A health system in Carpinteria, CA, is seeking a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist with expertise in oncology to join their team on a direct hire basis. This role offers the opportunity to serve as the subject matter expert for both inpatient and outpatient oncology programs within a respected non-profit health system.

This position requires a highly qualified candidate with a strong clinical pharmacy background, ideally with a PGY2 oncology residency or equivalent experience. The role involves working closely with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive medication management and support oncology patients throughout their treatments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive medication management, including ordering lab tests, selecting therapies, and managing adverse events
• Verify chemotherapy orders and protocols for accuracy, dosage appropriateness, and safety
• Educate patients and caregivers on treatment plans, manage chemotherapy side effects, and improve medication adherence
• Collaborate with providers and nurses during clinical rounds to make informed treatment decisions
• Participate in clinical trials, manage investigational drugs, and develop institutional oncology protocols and guidelines

Qualifications:

• PharmD or BS in Pharmacy
• Ability to obtain California pharmacist license
• Completion of PGY2 or oncology fellowship OR PGY1 plus 3 years of oncology clinical specialist experience OR 5 years as an oncology clinical specialist
• Board certification in oncology (BCOP) preferred

Schedule: Monday to Friday, day shifts
