An opportunity exists for a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist with expertise in oncology to join a respected non-profit health system serving Santa Barbara County. This role involves delivering advanced clinical pharmacy services in both inpatient and outpatient infusion settings, focusing on comprehensive medication management for oncology patients. Located in Carpinteria, CA, this position offers a balance of challenging responsibilities and the chance to live in one of the most beautiful regions in the U.S., known for its exceptional climate and scenic coastal lifestyle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical expertise in medication management, including ordering lab tests, selecting optimal therapies, and managing adverse events.
  • Verify chemotherapy orders and protocols, ensuring accuracy, appropriate dosage, and patient safety.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on treatment plans, manage chemotherapy side effects, and promote medication adherence.
  • Collaborate closely with providers and nursing staff during clinical rounds to guide treatment decisions.
  • Participate in clinical trials, oversee investigational drug management, and develop institutional oncology protocols and guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
  • Eligibility to obtain a California pharmacist license.
  • PGY2 residency or fellowship in oncology; OR PGY1 plus a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a clinical oncology specialist; OR 5 years’ clinical oncology specialist experience.
  • Board certification in oncology (BCOP) preferred.

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, day shifts.
