An opportunity is available for a Clinical Pharmacist to provide expert inpatient pharmaceutical care within a hospital setting. This position requires a licensed pharmacist with strong clinical skills and the ability to work independently during evening or overnight shifts. The role offers a 13-week contract starting Monday, April 20.

Location: Chesapeake, VA
Schedule:

  • Evening Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
  • Overnight Shift: 8:30 PM – 7:30 AM (Monday – Thursday)
  • Overnight Weekend Shift: 7:30 PM – 7:30 AM (Friday – Sunday), working 7 nights on followed by 7 nights off
    Candidates may choose between evening or overnight shifts.

Responsibilities:

  • Verify medication orders and manage order entry accurately
  • Administer pain-controlled analgesia and oversee antibiotic therapies
  • Monitor drug interactions and clinical effects to optimize patient outcomes
  • Provide IV medication management within the inpatient setting
  • Conduct pharmacokinetic and renal dosing assessments (preferred)
  • Manage chemotherapy agents and anticoagulant therapies (preferred)
  • Utilize EPIC for electronic medical record charting and documentation

Qualifications:

  • Current Virginia pharmacist license in hand at the time of application (mandatory)
  • Minimum 1 year of inpatient pharmacy experience required
  • Prior experience with intravenous medication, pain control, antibiotics, and medication order verification
  • Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical records (required)
  • Experience with chemotherapy, pharmacokinetic dosing, renal dosing, and anticoagulants is a plus
  • Travel pharmacy experience preferred but not required
