Clinical Pharmacist in Chesapeake, VA

A clinical pharmacist opportunity is available for an inpatient setting within a reputable medical center in Chesapeake, VA. This 13-week contract position offers flexibility with evening or overnight shifts, allowing candidates to select the schedule that best fits their lifestyle.

Shift Options:

• Evening: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
• Overnight: 8:30 PM – 7:30 AM (Monday – Thursday)
• Overnight Weekend: 7:30 PM – 7:30 AM (Friday – Sunday; 7 nights on/7 nights off rotation)

Candidates must hold a valid Virginia pharmacist license at the time of application. This role demands strong clinical skills with a minimum of one year of inpatient pharmacy experience. Travel pharmacy experience is highly desirable.

Key Qualifications:

• Current Virginia pharmacist license (mandatory)
• Minimum 1 year inpatient pharmacy experience
• Demonstrated proficiency with intravenous (IV) medications, pain-controlled analgesia, antibiotics, drug interaction assessments, order entry, and medication order verification
• Preferred experience includes chemotherapy protocols, anticoagulants, pharmacokinetic dosing, and renal dosing adjustments
• Proficient in Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system for medication charting (required)

Primary Responsibilities:

• Accurately verify and process medication orders in compliance with hospital protocols
• Monitor and manage IV medications and pain control therapies
• Conduct thorough drug interaction checks and adjust dosing as necessary, including renal and pharmacokinetic considerations
• Support oncology-related medication administration if applicable
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care
