Clinical Pharmacist in Chesapeake, VA

A clinical pharmacist opportunity is available for an inpatient role at a medical center in Chesapeake, VA. This contract position begins on Tuesday, May 26, immediately following Labor Day, for a 13-week duration. The schedule includes rotating shifts, providing a dynamic work environment that supports diverse clinical experience.

The ideal candidate must possess at least one year of inpatient pharmacy experience, with strong skills in intravenous (IV) therapy, pain-controlled analgesia, antibiotic management, drug interaction assessments, order entry, and medication order verification. Experience with chemotherapy, anticoagulants, pharmacokinetic dosing, and renal dosing is highly preferred, enhancing the ability to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care.

Proficiency in Epic electronic medical record (EMR) charting is essential for this role, as it facilitates accurate and efficient documentation and communication within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Verify and process medication orders accurately for inpatient care
• Manage and monitor antibiotic and analgesic therapies, ensuring optimal effectiveness
• Assess drug interactions and adjust regimens accordingly
• Participate in complex dosing decisions including pharmacokinetics and renal adjustments
• Utilize Epic EMR system for medication order entry and documentation
• Support chemotherapy and anticoagulant medication management when applicable

Desired Experience:

• Minimum 1 year inpatient pharmacy experience required
• IV therapy and pain-controlled analgesia expertise
• Strong knowledge of antibiotics and drug interaction management
