Clinical Pharmacist | Chesapeake, Virginia

A Clinical Pharmacist with strong inpatient experience is needed for a 13-week contract at a regional medical center in Chesapeake, VA, starting Tuesday, May 26. This role requires expertise in managing medication therapy within a hospital setting, with a focus on clinical interventions and medication safety during rotating shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Verify and process medication orders accurately.
• Manage intravenous (IV) therapies, including pain-controlled analgesia and antibiotics.
• Monitor drug interactions and assist in dosing adjustments.
• Utilize EMR systems, specifically EPIC, for medication order entry and patient charting.
• Provide pharmacokinetic and renal dosing support (preferred).
• Assist with chemotherapy protocols and anticoagulant management (preferred).
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Minimum of 1 year inpatient pharmacy experience required.
• Proven experience with IV medications, pain management, antibiotics, and order verification.
• Familiarity with complex medication regimens including chemo and anticoagulants preferred.
• Pharmacokinetic dosing and renal dosing experience is a plus.
• Experience using EPIC electronic medical records (EMR) required.
• Prior travel pharmacy experience is preferred but not mandatory.
• Ability to work rotating shifts effectively.
