This role involves working within a specialty compounding pharmacy focusing on personalized pharmaceutical preparations tailored to individual patient needs. Under the guidance of the Pharmacy Supervisor, you will collaborate with both sterile and non-sterile production teams to ensure full compliance with state and federal regulations related to compounding practices. Additionally, you will support prescription dispensing staff and contribute to patient care through counseling on compounded, prescription, and over-the-counter medications.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring compounded sterile and non-sterile preparations are accurate and conform to master formula worksheets
- Implementing and adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies to maintain patient safety and regulatory compliance
- Complying with USP <795>, <797>, and <800> guidelines for sterile and non-sterile compounding
- Following proper cleaning and garbing protocols according to company policies
- Performing necessary calculations and documentation related to compounding
- Operating production equipment accurately and safely
- Utilizing correct aseptic techniques and preparing work areas thoroughly before production
- Conducting quality control testing and inspections to verify medication accuracy, purity, and potency
- Staying updated on new compounding methods, formulations, and technologies
- Participating in ongoing professional development within compounding pharmacy practices
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Licensed pharmacist with experience in sterile and non-sterile compounding
- Knowledge of USP compounding standards and regulatory requirements
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards
- Ability to work collaboratively within a production environment
- Excellent communication skills for counseling and teamwork
Location: Coatesville, PA (Kennett Square area specialty compounding pharmacy)
Schedule/Hours:
- Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 4:30pm or 9:00am - 5:30pm
- Monday - Friday: 10:30am - 7:00pm (possible shift assignment after training)
