Clinical Pharmacist - Cullman, AL

A growing veterinary compounding pharmacy is seeking a dedicated Staff Pharmacist to join their team in Cullman, AL. This contract-to-hire opportunity offers an immediate start and focuses on delivering exceptional care to animal patients, particularly in equine and veterinary compounding.

This role includes a key leadership component, overseeing a team of pharmacy technicians while managing daily pharmacy operations and ensuring strict adherence to quality standards.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and support 3–4 pharmacy technicians to maintain an efficient workflow
• Verify prescriptions and oversee daily pharmacy activities
• Manage and review 25–30 regularly reordered formularies
• Ensure compliance with pharmacy policies, procedures, and quality standards
• Collaborate with pharmacy staff to optimize operational efficiency
• Provide leadership with a strong commitment to animal patient care
• Assist with inventory management and operational oversight as needed

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Active pharmacist license meeting state requirements
• Experience in equine or veterinary/animal compounding (human compounding experience alone is insufficient)
• Strong leadership and supervisory capabilities
• Excellent work ethic with a proactive, go-above-and-beyond attitude
• Quick learner who adapts well in a fast-paced environment
• Commitment to following established procedures and delivering high-quality animal care

Pharmacy Overview:

• Specialty veterinary/equine compounding with primarily non-sterile preparations

• Team of 4 pharmacists, each overseeing 3–4 technicians
• Uses PK Software for compounding order entry and QuickBooks Online for invoicing; transitioning to Pharmetica soon
