A veterinary compounding pharmacy specializing in equine and animal care is seeking a skilled pharmacist to fill a critical contract-to-hire role. This position offers an opportunity to apply clinical and leadership skills in a dynamic, animal-focused environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in veterinary compounding, especially equine pharmacy, and a passion for delivering exceptional pharmaceutical care to animal patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and support a team of 3–4 pharmacy technicians to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Verify prescriptions and oversee workflow, maintaining accuracy and compliance.
- Review and manage approximately 25–30 regularly reordered formularies.
- Ensure adherence to all pharmacy policies, procedures, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with the pharmacy team to optimize efficiency and patient care.
- Provide leadership focused on the well-being of animal patients.
- Assist with inventory management and daily operational oversight as needed.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active pharmacist license compliant with state requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in equine or veterinary/animal compounding (human compounding alone is insufficient).
- Strong leadership and supervisory capabilities.
- Excellent work ethic with a proactive and responsible approach.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced workplace.
- Commitment to following established procedures and delivering high-quality animal patient care.
Pharmacy Details:
- Specialty in veterinary/equine compounding with primarily non-sterile preparations; some sterile prescriptions processed.
- Approximately 200+ prescriptions shipped daily.
- A team of 4 pharmacists each supervises 3–4 technicians.
- Utilizes PK Software for compounding order entry and QuickBooks Online for invoicing.
- Transitioning to Pharmetica software in the near future.
