A healthcare facility in the Chicago area is seeking an experienced Night Pharmacist for a primarily pediatric hospital setting. This role offers an opportunity to support critical overnight operations during a staffing shortage with a 7-on, 7-off night shift schedule. The assignment is a contract position with an anticipated duration of 13 weeks or longer, starting as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure safe and effective medication management during the night shift
- Dispense and review medications with a strong focus on pediatric patients
- Utilize clinical expertise to perform weight-based dosing and other pediatric-specific adjustments
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize patient care outcomes
- Operate pharmacy IT systems, including EPIC and Omnicell, to manage orders and documentation
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
- Active Illinois Pharmacist license
- Proven hospital pharmacy experience, preferably in a children's hospital or pediatric unit
- Comfortable with pediatric pharmacy practices, including weight-based dosing calculations
- Ability to work independently and make sound clinical judgments during night hours
- Proficiency with EPIC and Omnicell pharmacy information systems
Schedule:
- Night shift from 9:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- 7 days on, 7 days off rotation
