A Fall River, MA healthcare facility is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist for a 6-8 week contract with potential for permanent placement based on performance. This opportunity requires flexibility with primarily an 8:00 am to 4:30 pm shift, with occasional coverage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately accept, dispense, and monitor prescription medications, ensuring legal compliance and appropriateness for each patient
- Maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy files with attention to detail
- Counsel patients on medication use, potential reactions, side effects, and drug interactions
- Provide specialized services including smoking cessation support, blood pressure and cholesterol management
- Educate patients on proper use of medical devices such as glucose meters and blood pressure monitors
- Prepare compounded medications and sterile solutions following established protocols
- Oversee pharmacy technicians and clerical staff to ensure efficient daily operations
- Ensure proper inventory management of pharmaceutical and medical supplies
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare practitioners in identifying and resolving medication-related issues
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Massachusetts pharmacist license required
- Retail pharmacists will be considered; training provided if needed
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Strong communication skills for patient education and staff supervision
