A clinical pharmacist position is available for a 6-8 week contract in the Fall River, MA area, with a possibility of conversion for the right candidate. This role requires a flexible schedule, focusing primarily on shifts from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional coverage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The ideal candidate will have a Massachusetts pharmacist license in-hand and be prepared to start as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accept and dispense prescription medications while ensuring compliance with legal standards.
- Monitor patient medication adherence and usage patterns to identify overuse.
- Verify the suitability of prescribed medicines for each patient.
- Maintain accurate, confidential patient records and pharmacy documentation.
- Advise patients on medication use, possible side effects, and respond to inquiries.
- Provide patient consultations on both prescription and OTC medications, including dosages and drug interactions.
- Deliver patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
- Educate patients on the correct use of medical devices like glucose meters and blood pressure monitors.
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions according to protocol.
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks.
- Manage inventory levels of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.
- Identify drug-related patient issues and communicate effectively with physicians and other healthcare providers.
- Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals including nurses, pharmacists, and pharmacy interns.
Qualifications:
- Current MA pharmacist license.
- Open to training retail pharmacists with less clinical experience.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and maintain patient safety.
