Clinical Pharmacist in Fredericksburg, VA

A clinical pharmacist opportunity is available to support an outpatient infusion center specializing in oncology care in Fredericksburg, VA. This role involves direct involvement in the preparation and dispensing of chemotherapy and infusion therapies within a busy cancer center.

Location: Fredericksburg, VA

Schedule:

• 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• Pharmacy operating hours: 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM
• No weekend or on-call coverage required

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, verify, and dispense chemotherapy and other infusion medications in accordance with established protocols
• Collaborate with medical and nursing staff to ensure safe, effective medication management for outpatient oncology patients
• Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards in handling hazardous drugs
• Utilize electronic medical records and pharmacy systems (EPIC and Pyxis) to document and manage medication orders
• Provide clinical expertise and counseling to patients receiving infusion therapies

Ideal Qualifications and Experience:

• Active Virginia Pharmacist license
• Experience in infusion pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, or chemotherapy pharmacy preferred
• Strong knowledge of oncology medication protocols and safe handling practices
• Proficiency in pharmacy IT systems such as EPIC and Pyxis
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

This role offers a chance for a contract-to-hire arrangement, allowing the pharmacist to integrate into a well-established outpatient pharmacy team comprising 2-3 pharmacists and 3 technicians. The infusion center includes 44 treatment chairs serving a steady volume of patients.
