Provide expert clinical pharmacy services in an inpatient hospital setting at a critical access hospital. This travel assignment offers an opportunity to support a dedicated healthcare team while delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care. The position requires a licensed pharmacist to manage medication therapy, ensure patient safety, and collaborate with the healthcare team.
Location: Gallup, New Mexico
Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, day shift (approximately 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
Duration: Starting August 1, 2026, continuing until a permanent pharmacist is hired (anticipated 3+ months)
Licensure: Must hold an active New Mexico pharmacist license
Work Environment: Critical Access Hospital with a small, focused pharmacy staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee inpatient medication management and ensure compliance with hospital policies
- Utilize Cerner for order entry and Pyxis automation systems for medication distribution
- Perform sterile compounding as part of routine pharmacy functions
- Provide on-call coverage after hours as needed
- Collaborate closely with one Director of Pharmacy, fellow pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians to optimize patient care
Qualifications and Experience:
- Licensed pharmacist in New Mexico
- Experience in hospital inpatient pharmacy, preferably in a critical access setting
- Skilled in sterile compounding and familiar with automated dispensing systems such as Pyxis
- Proficient with Cerner or similar order entry software
- Ability to provide on-call support
