This role supports a non-profit health system serving Santa Barbara County, delivering expert clinical pharmacy services across both inpatient and outpatient infusion settings.

The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist will act as the oncology subject matter expert, providing comprehensive medication management, verifying chemotherapy orders for safety and accuracy, and educating patients and caregivers on treatment protocols. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with providers and nursing staff during clinical rounds to optimize patient outcomes. Additional responsibilities include participating in clinical trials, managing investigational drugs, and contributing to the development of institutional oncology protocols and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and monitor oncology medication therapy, including ordering labs and managing adverse effects.
• Verify chemotherapy orders and protocols to ensure proper dosing and safety.
• Educate patients and caregivers on treatment plans and side effect management.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary clinical teams during rounds.
• Support clinical research activities and the development of institutional guidelines.

Qualifications:

• PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
• Eligibility for California pharmacist licensure.
• Completion of PGY2 or oncology fellowship, OR PGY1 plus 3 years oncology clinical specialist experience, OR 5 years as an oncology clinical specialist.
• Board certification in oncology (BCOP) preferred.
